CROSS COUNTRY HOUSE . Warsaw

The Cross Country House is an architectural response to the initial brief of a client with a clear vision and a plot of land with a nice forest.

The multigenerational family wanted a house with a cross shaped floor plan, allowing distinct personal spaces to meet in a central core.
During the design process the initial scheme was inverted - the four main functional spaces now wrap around a central, cross-shaped patio. This created an inner, tree lined space and still allows the occupants to live in their private space.
The client was decided on the materials from the start - they wanted exposed exterior and interior concrete walls and large glass windows to take in the forest views. We gave the walls different textures, by changing the formwork material.
The exterior walls were imprinted with tree bark, whereas the interior walls with different size wooden planks, depending on the age of the inhabitants.
