Memories of Tomorrow . 2012

For his project in the Tuileries Garden, the artist conceived an installation based on Vauban’s barriers, the metal barriers used by the authorities to control crowds. This security tool is transformed to the point of assuming a decorative dimension that is directly inspired by the gardens drawn by Le Nôtre in the 17th century.Questioning the imposed order, Memories of Tomorrow invents a fictive duel “Vauban vs. Le Nôtre” in which military architecture meets the French garden. In this configuration, a truly in situ installation, Memories of Tomorrow questions our relationship to reality by a mise en abyme of the Tuileries Garden and the remains of its fortified walls.
