Under the leadership of the Copenhagen/Berlin based office COBE, an international, interdisciplinary team of architects, planners, landscape architects, engineers and economists wins the competition for the extension of Copenhagen University and other knowledge institutions at Copenhagen’s North Campus.
The architect/planner and COBE partner Vanessa Miriam Carlow says: “As a former student of Copenhagen University, I am very proud to be involved in the future development of this Science City of Copenhagen”.

From Campus to Knowledge Network
With the proposal “Knowledge Network Copenhagen North Campus“ COBE envisions a process of the integration of knowledge based enterprises and educational institutions – from kindergarten, to university and university spin-off – into a Knowledge Network that is physically supported by interventions in the architectural and urban realm.
Architect and COBE partner Dan Stubbergaard says: “In the future, Copenhagen will live from exporting knowledge to the world even more. Therefore it is important that knowledge institutions and city develop hand in hand.”
From 6 strategies to 100 projects, 1000 ideas and 100.000 users
COBE suggests a development process based on six main strategies that will be translated into a multitude of specific projects and ideas. These will be developed in dialogue with the inhabitants, users and entrepreneurs in the area together with Copenhagen University so that city and university interweave for the benefit of both. Copenhagen University and Copenhagen Municipality jointly launched the competition with financial support from Realdania Foundation. COBE’s winning scheme provides the base for a development plan.
