OUR PROJECT AIMS TO GIVE QUALITY TO THE VOID THAT PRESENTLY EXISTS BETWEEN KING'S COLLEGE'S TWO HISTORICAL BUILDINGS, BRINGING THEM INTO DIALOGUE WITH EACH OTHER AND BESTOWING THEM WITH A PRESENCE THAT IS MORE FRIENDLY AND NOBLE THAN THAT WHICH THEY NOW HAVE.

THESE HISTORICAL AND EMBLEMATIC BUILDINGS ARE A CONSTANT PRESENCE IN OUR INTERVENTION THAT TRANSFORMS THEM INTO THE LANDSCAPE OBSERVED FROM ALL OF THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR SPACES OF THE PROJECT.
WE UNDERSTAND THE NEW BUILDING TO BE A PLACE OF INTERCHANGE, OF DIALOGUE, OF ENCOUNTER, AS A GENERATOR OF RELATIONSHIPS... THE LOCATION OF KING'S COLLEGE LONDON AND THE CHARACTER OF THE QUADRANGLE AS BOTH TRANSITION SPACE AND GARDEN SIMULTANEOUSLY MAKE US CONSIDER IT AS AN URBAN GARDEN-SQUARE IN CONTINUUM WITH OTHER EXISTING GREEN SPACES. IT THUS PARTICIPATES IN THE URBAN SYSTEM (GARDENS, PARKS, THE THAMES EMBANKMENT GARDENS ETC.) THE ENTRANCES TO OUR INTERVENTION ARE OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE; THE PERMEABILITY AND EASY ACCESS FROM BOTH THE STRAND AND THE EMBANKMENT ARE DESIGN INTENTIONS THAT CANNOT BE RENOUNCED.
