The main hall of the temple of Pure Land Buddhism.A hollow cathedral was built to meet the needs of creating not only a space for religious ceremonies but also a gathering space for the neighbors.A stair step patterned pyramid shape was used to connect the wall and the roof in a very simple and ambiguous manner. 6mm-thick cor-ten steel panels were welded at the site, to protect the building against water leakage and intrusion. With numerous bored openings distributed evenly around, it enabled the sunlight to reach deep into the space hence improving the convenience for daytime use. During the ceremony, the panels set inside would control the light, creating a more quiet space filled with soft pouring lights.
