We wanted our proposal get involved in a sustainable future in China where today one of two buildings in the world are made. Ordos 100 was for us an opportunity to give our point of view on such a serious subject.

We wanted the project to establish a relationship to the original components of its surroundings, even if it will be among 99 others.

We approached the villa program with an open view to the complexity of its possible uses. We are putting forward a device that can withstand extreme climates and contribute to sustainable design in a post-oil environment.

The project comprises several habitable volumes that are aggregated and together delimit a shared space. The project was designed to adjust to continental climate without any related air-conditioning The project was designed to make use of proven techniques and local material.

This “retro-futurist” disposition allows us to imagine this building occupied in the manner as a high class villa as well as a shelter for nomads.
