Annexe is a project for the City of Ballarat to expand the Art Gallery of Ballarat function spaces and address the adjacent Alfred Deakin Plaza and heritage precinct of Camp Street.

The project adopts three hybrid postures of a public hall, a verandah and a band stand. The space is flexible with operable glazing fully opening and directly addressing the plaza to act as a focal point for festivals and an impromptu stage for public addresses.
The design harmonises with the existing urban realm and forms a transitory space between the gallery, Alfred Deakin Plaza and historic Huyghue House.
Annexe primarily creates an enclosed multi-purpose space for lectures, workshops, art installations, community functions & opening nights. The project is also designed to facilitate private functions with the ability to operate independently from other gallery spaces. From the new Annexe patrons will enjoy the unique historical outlook over the plaza to the lower parts of Ballarat City and the surrounding hills beyond.
