For the terraces in the Avilés Port we propose a rock, a polished stone that is inserted on the valley and mount landscape of the estuary.
At the region of Asturias, there is an ancient tradition of building with galleries that are attatched to the façade and help to acconditionate the houses. Our gallery fits on the façade of the terrace and gets profit of both, visual and termic benefits as well as introducing the building into its context and the social life of the city.
The shape of the plan is the space that is generated when two or more people gather around a table. From this simple form, the building is able to find its volume by generating comfortable and attractive spaces for the user. The interior of the terrace is designed as a continous open space that takes advance of every single available square meter, and where every user is able to find a charming space.
The use of wood as the main material will cause the continous changing of appereance and texture of the building over the years, and will provoke thus that it belongs more and more to the landscape and less to the city.
