alvenaria social housing . lisbon
fala atelier (filipe magalhães + ana luisa soares)
The competition sought a new identity for the "Alvenaria" neighbourhood in Lisbon. After many years of indifference, a single intervention should be able to resolve the whole site while bringing it back to the present.
The proposal did not intend to encompass all the volumes in a static solution. A module was defined, a cube of 2.55m, and the variations and multiplications allowed the development of the various divisions of each dwelling.
Setting ground rules for the organisation of the interiors, several possible typologies were proposed. Each room would directly respond to the wishes of the residents and the dynamic mutant capacity would transform the neighbourhood into a moving platform. Balconies over the street and small cultivation spaces would give colour to the landscape.
The materialisation of the project was based on a prefabricated metal structure. The white of the exterior would be the backdrop for community activities. Inside, each resident would define his own micro-universe.

it is called collage.
stop copying others projects and try to do your own stuff.
what a silly speech about copying. you are beginning to need a psychologist.
The founders of Fala have a history of copying, a.k.a collage-ing, SANAA projects.

being so, I guess they will be fired from Sanaa's office :)
Dear Anonimo,
you seem to be someone who fights for a cause. We truly respect that.
As you probably know, our website is an "open book", so you can have a clear notion of our work.
We would really enjoy to discuss it with you, nevertheless, it is quite difficult for us to create a fair dialogue since we don't know what you produce and what you stand for.
If you don't want to do it here, you can send us an email and we will be really happy to talk with you about our work, your work, etc.
Feel free to say hello.
Best Regards,
Filipe + Ana Luisa

Congratulations for your work.

no wonder it looks Japanese...
this isnt a collage technique.
this isnt a copy/paste technique.
this is a work influenced by the new japanese architecture.
architecture that i could define as an engineered solution to inhabit surroundings, and the inner specifity of community relationships.
an interesting work along with your website. my best regards.
Chuck Close says it best:
"I think while appropriation has produced some interesting work … for me, the most interesting thing is to back yourself into your own corner where no one else’s answers will fit. You will somehow have to come up with your own personal solutions to this problem that you have set for yourself because no one else’s answers are applicable.
[…]
See, I think our whole society is much too problem-solving oriented. It is far more interesting to [participate in] ‘problem creation’ … You know, ask yourself an interesting enough question and your attempt to find a tailor-made solution to that question will push you to a place where, pretty soon, you’ll find yourself all by your lonesome — which I think is a more interesting place to be."
