Vertical Habitat . Rio de Janeiro
Daniel Sacristán Contreras . 2011: Why Tall? Competition
This tower aims to create a self-sustaining neighborhood with a unique element - a continuous pedestrian ramp. This ramp acts like a typical street, allowing access to all of the housing units and public facilities. When a tall building takes on the characteristics of a vertical street, it is able to move beyond the typical high-rise and become an expansion of public space while providing more opportunities for social interaction.
