Photographer Chloe Dewe Mathews spent over a year researching and capturing the various locations across Northern Europe where WW1 Soldiers accused of desertion and cowardice were executed.For the series ‘Shot at Dawn’ each photograph was taken during the same season and at the time as the original execution took place, usually at dawn before the warfare continued for the rest of the day.
