The site is located in a small coastal village, adjacent to a beautiful, protected dune reserve. An old dwelling, previously located on the terrain, was demolished and replaced by a new, larger and more energy efficient dwelling that is partly based on the former’s foundations.
The new dwelling consists of four one-story volumes: three connected volumes contain all living spaces and a fourth, separate volume houses a garage for three cars.

The volumes that make up the dwelling are positioned at slightly different angles. This creates intimate, enclosed outdoor spaces, but also interesting visual connections from one volume to another. One volume contains the entrance, the master bedroom, a bathr oom and kitchen. Connected to the kitchen is a second volume that houses a living room and a dining room. A third volume connects the living room with an open office, the children’s bedrooms and the guest room.
The dwelling is located at the site’s highest point. Its fragmented configuration and its dark-stained cladding in Russian larch make it blend beautifully into the surrounding landscape.
