Private dwelling . Somerset
Duggan Morris Architects
Duggan Morris Architects has won an invited competition for the design of a new family dwelling on the site of a redundant farm in the Somerset greenbelt and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The site and its context, is one of exceptional beauty and historical wealth, with listed structures and buildings defining unique conditions for the site, the centre piece of which is a Grade II Listed Lodge faced in coursed limestone and ashlar dressings set within a walled enclosure of textured reddish brick. Distant views capture a tapestry of arable fields and grass land dropping southwards into a lower valley of shaws following the meandering paths of streams, with fleeting glimpses of distant buildings articulating the view.
