Elisabethen Park Café. Basel
Christ & Gantenbein . + swiss architects
The Elisabethenpark, a unique green space in the immediate proximity of Basel’s main station, is receiving an architectural face-lift and a landscape upgrade. Inside the park a small 19th-century building is situated next to a monument, a pavilion and a fountain. This building has been serving various purposes in the course of time and is now converted into a café. One big circular window allows a strong relationship between the inside and the outside. The window is formally answered by a large round collective table in the café.
