The project proposed has the intention to create a mixed and dense district providing a new identity to the urban model, based on the reinterpretation of the block typology legacy in the quartier.
In this way, the new urban fabric is configured by simple typological elements: four blocks of similar proportions and variable volume interweaved with three lineal isolated blocks. This structure resolves the interconnection of the proposal’s limits with the city and supports the creation of a network of diverse public spaces. The blocks in the project are constructed from volumetric variations of the typical block of the PAV-Nord district. With a base height of 8 floors (24m), they are partially elevated to 10 floors, and they eventually become 50m high towers, which appear along the perimeter. This allows to define a two-scale urban landscape: the city and the neighbourhood. The towers, as landmarks in the perimeter of the project, articulate the perception of the city and establish visual connections with the metropolitan landscape, whereas variations of height and volume in the block minimize the high density image of the project. Also, the permeability of the ground floor level boosts the continuity of public spaces.
